Steal my playbook for how to always bounce back no matter how tough things are right now
This article breaks down my exact methods and decisions I use to keep my personal resilience high. It's the same techniques that I train my clients to use.
Apparently, I have a superpower.
It’s my resilience.
It appears that I always seem to bounce back, regardless of what obstacles are placed in front of me.
If you are a regular reader of my Substack articles, you’ll know it’s not been plain sailing for me over the last few years.
There was the time when half my team decided to up and leave my business on the same day, which necessitated a big restructure. 2 years later, I think we will have restructured and finally rebuilt on a much more secure footing both with profits AND sustainability of the business.
Of course, there have been the battles with my pesky ankle and now my pesky wrist.
You couldn’t make this stuff up?
But I keep on going.
As I wrote in my article on how to refind your mojo as a small business owner, there is no plan B.
Which set me thinking, what is this thing called resilience? Why do I continually find the cup is half full, even if to the rest of the world it’s been chucked on the floor and water has been spilt everywhere…
Is this you?
You’re a small business owner, pouring your heart into getting your troublesome business to grow up and be that mature adult in your life. If you’ve got this far in your business life, you don’t give up easily.
You’re probably driven, and you may have big plans. But let’s be honest, some days it feels like you’re wading through treacle, right? But the journey to get your business to where you need it to be can leave you feeling tired, distracted, and sometimes, like you just want to give up.
I can’t be the only person who occasionally looks at the staff on the checkouts at my local supermarket and feels envious of their job.
It could be all manner of things that are getting you down right now. You might find yourself constantly pulled into day-to-day operations, struggling to find time to work on your business rather than just in it. Or the pressure of client demands, juggling cash flow, and the sheer weight of responsibility can be immense.
This isn't about having superhuman powers or just "being tough". Think of resilience not as a fixed trait, but as a muscle you can build. And it starts with understanding a few key things about yourself and how you operate. In this article, we’ll explore how to build that resilience. Not with quick fixes, but with solid foundations and practical steps to help you stay focused, energised, and ready for whatever comes next as you scale your business.
